The following documents require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view

TERRAMODEL NOTE 11 - DRAFTING TIPS

The objective of this TM Note is to describe drafting tips that can be used to produce a more professional drawing.

Developed by: Robert E. Sullivan (Oct. 1996)

Revised for Windows (Version 9.82) by: Stacy Modelski (Sep. 2001)

TERRAMODEL NOTE 12 - EXCAVATED PIT & DIKE

The objective of this TM Note is to describe a procedure for designing excavated pits. The process will cover designing pits with varying side slopes, calculating slope intercepts, changing the pit location, and calculating excavation volumes. A dike will be designed both on three sides and also surrounding the pit. The slope intercepts and earth fill volumne will be calculated.

Developed by: Stephen J. Moran (Mar. 1994)

Revised for Windows by: Stacey Modelski (Dec, 2000)

TERRAMODEL NOTE 13 - CREATING A DESIGN SURFACE USING SMPROAD COMMAND

The objective of this TM Note is to describe a process to develop a design surface using the SMPROAD command rather than the DESIGN command. The SMPROAD command will be used to design an auxiliary spillway for an earth dam.

Developed by: Robert E. Sullivan and Charles E. Schmitt (Nov. 1995)

Revised for Windows by: Stacey Modelski (Dec. 2000)

TERRAMODEL NOTE 14 - COMPUTING VOLUMES BETWEEN DTM SURFACES

The objective of this TM Note is to describe a procedure to compute the volume of earthwork between two DTM surfaces. The example used is for a dam embankment, but the concept is the same for all situations where volumes are required. Some methods that may be used in checking the accuracy of the design surface are also introduced. The methods described are Quick profile and contouring of the Isopach layer.

TERRAMODEL NOTE 17 - DRAFTING

The objective of this TerraModel Note is to develop drafting skills and use commands associated with some of the CAD potential of TerraModel.  The example is to draw a simple layout of a pipe and riser with a concrete base on an existing profile.  This is not necessarily "the proper" procedure to draw the given structure but simply one example of a near infinite variety available.  Emphasis is on letting the computer do the precise work rather than "eyeballing" as in traditional hand drafting methods.  The "Point Menu" is a very powerful tool to establish precision and it is emphasized in many of the examples.

TERRAMODEL NOTE 18 - PLOTTING CROSS SECTIONS

The objective of this TM Note is to describe a process to plot specified cross sections for a Horizontal Alignment for viewing in Sheet View. These sheets of cross sections can then be plotted on paper.

Developed By: Robert E. Sullivan, Randy S. Mason, Rodney J. Vrbka, and Jack D. Wiedeman (April 1995)

TERRAMODEL NOTE 19 - PROFILES

The objective of this TM Note is to describe the procedure for developing profiles from existing or new alignments. The process will cover developing multiple profile lines on a single drawing and additional profiles from the same project. The profiles will include existing ground, finished grade, and associated profile lines.

Developed By: Stephen J. Moran and Chuck Schmitt (Dec. 1995)

TERRAMODEL NOTE 21 - WORD TABLES

The objective of this TM Note is to explain how to import a Microsoft Word table into Terramodel  This is a simple procedure and requires only a few steps.  However, this process requires Adobe Acrobat Writer.  Without the Writer program, the necessary file conversion can not take place.
