Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP)

The Agricultural Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) is a voluntary conservation program under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). AWEP provides financial and technical assistance to farmers and ranchers to assist them in applying agricultural water enhancement activities that conserve ground and surface water and improve water quality on agricultural lands.  

While EQIP is available statewide, AWEP is only available in USDA approved project areas (click on map below for full-size view).

1. Middle Republican Natural Resources District (southern Lincoln, Hayes, Frontier, Hitchcock and Red Willow counties)
2. Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District (portions of Lincoln, Dawson, Gosper, Phelps and Kearney counties)
3. Little Blue Natural Resources District (portions of Adams, Clay, Nuckolls, Thayer, Fillmore and Jefferson counties)
4. Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District (portions of Saline, Jefferson and Gage counties)
5. Lower Platte North Natural Resources District (portions of Boone, Madison, Platte, Colfax, Butler, Dodge, and Saunders counties)
