  • 1970 -- Graduated from High School in Hampton, Nebraska
  • 1974 -- Graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture
  • 1974 - 1977 -- Worked as sorghum research technician, leather craftsman, line welder, and plant safety inspector

Began career with NRCS (SCS) in 1978 as a Soil Conservationist for Red Willow County at the McCook, Nebraska Field Office.  In 1981, moved to Trenton, Nebraska as the District Conservationist for Hitchcock County.  From 1982 - 1986, served as the Area Four Resource Conservationist stationed at McCook.  Currently serves the Middle Niobrara NRD as the District Conservationist in Valentine, Nebraska.

Resource Needs and Concerns

  • SOIL

Rangeland and cropland conservation practices to reduce wind erosion.
Technical service and education to improve soil health.

  • WATER

Improve water quality issues as mentioned in the district's groundwater management plan.
Address water quantity issues.
Degradation of riparian areas and streambeds.

  • ANIMALS

Endangered species
Livestock protection from adverse weather
Upland and wetland wildlife habitat

  • PLANTS

Improve rangeland health
Timber stand improvement on forestland
Improved management on subirrigated meadows.

  • HUMAN

Resource management systems that address production, maintain and enhance the resource base, increase profitability, and maintain a quality rural lifestyle and standard of living.

Primary Programs and Services

The Partnership utilizes the following programs on a routine basis to address the resource concerns and need identified by the district and the local work group:

  • CRP
  • WHIP
  • NSWCP
  • EQIP... and other conservation program sin partnership with Pheasants Forever, NNGPC and USFWS

Information and outreach activities include conservations programs for rural and city schools, FFA, 4-H clubs, Rotary Club, CES meetings, County Fair, and Sandhills Cattle Association.
